Pinot’s Palette - Dulles learned a few lessons when we painted with the Francis C Hammond Middle School team at their annual team building event.Lesson One - A Great Leader Focuses on the Team and the OutcomeWhen Hammond’s new principal, Pierrette Hall, was appointed in July 2015 she began focusing on “creating a collaborative environment among Hammond's staff that will promote a shared responsibility for all our students' success,” according to the Alexandria City Public School announcement. For the 2015/2016 school year, Ms. Hall wanted to ensure that the entire faculty and administration had the opportunity to both collaborate and have fun, and asked us to provide a unique, customized painting event at the school.Lesson Two - Teachers are Immensely Creative It was decided that a main painting would be done by all - using a chalkboard painting that each painter could customize. Boy, did the Hammond staff ever customize their chalkboards. We had suspected that the results would be impressive, but we were WOWED by the beautiful, individualized paintings each created from our baseline design.Lesson Three - Teachers are Expert CollaboratorsAlong with the individual chalkboard painting, Pinot’s Palette - Dulles Painters led the teams in breakout sessions where the theme was “We are Your Champions” and created a custom group picture that visually showed the value of collaboration as the end result. Our final lesson was in gratitude. We were blushing a bit as the teams shared many times that this was the best team building they had ever had. Kudos to Principal Hall and her staff for the work they did to create this awesome corporate team building event!Creative Team Building
