helping who we can
I am like many of you who feel helpless with the overwhelming need for help and donations to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. It seems insignificant to just send a monetary donation, and yet it can and does make a difference. I came across a quote by Ronald Reagan, "We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone"For many in the wake of Harvey, there will be what seems like an insurmountable challenge to re build. Remember they are going to feel uncomfortable being in such a position of need. It's painful to go from being self sufficient one day to suddenly not having a pair of shoes and no car to go and buy some new ones. Try to see a need and fill it without asking "What can I do?"
"Floodees" are exhausted and overwhelmed and it's hard to answer that question.
Pinot's Palette was started and is based in Houston, TX. Many of the staff and local franchisees have been personally hit hard by this disaster. Thankfully they are safe.
In order to truly help who we can with what we can- Pinot's Palette-Dulles is hosting a Paint it Forward (fundraising) event on September 6th. The beautiful painting was created by one of the artists in OK/TX for our studios.
In addition to this event, we will give anyone who donates $10+ a $25 card towards painting with us. This will be an ongoing offer for at least 6 months. As this will be a long road to recovery. Our hope is that even when the media coverage has fizzled down, we will still be able to offer support directly to the people who need it.
Another important way to help those in need is by simply letting them know they are in our thoughts and hearts. So at all of our painting events in September we will post an encouraging message to our friends in TX. Because a kind word goes a long way!
