art is therapeutic
Whether you are creating art or simply appreciating it, art can be an escape. Art can tell a story, it can inspire feelings, and plain and simply add color or personality to a space. In today's world we have stress, tragedy, victories, celebrations, natural disasters and ... well you get the idea. The point I am trying to make is that we all struggle and celebrate! We all need to find the good and ways to cope with the bad. We all; at our core (I believe) want to feel good and enjoy life.
As children we enjoy art in school. As adults we hang art on our walls and visit museums. Nature is an incredible artist. Especially in the Fall season. Leaves changing colors, the vivid sun, vibrant blue sky, the world is a canvas and nature is constantly creating new masterpieces.
Letting ourselves take time to appreciate the art in our life is a great way to cope with the hurts and celebrate the good. I for one really believe that if we can let our inner "child" out to express creativity, we can find joy in our days.
Even if you are not "artistic" yourself, simply taking the time to view art and nature will help those stress levels go down. And (take it from me- I am no artist) the simple yet freeing act of painting can be just what you need to find that inner child and have some fun.
Escape for a couple of hours and watch your stress dissipate one brush stroke at a time. At Pinot's Palette-Dulles the wine tasting helps too!
