Date Night in St. Matthews, Even If You Can’t Draw a Straight Line
You finally have a free evening together. Then comes the familiar question: "What do you want to do?" If the answer is usually dinner and scrolling through something to watch, give yourselves a different plan this time. A paint and sip date in St. Matthews comes with a canvas, a little guidance, and plenty to talk about.
Maybe one of you keeps a sketchbook and the other hasn't picked up a paintbrush since school. That's a perfectly good starting point. At Pinot's Palette in Louisville's St. Matthews neighborhood, our artists guide you through the featured painting step by step. You can follow along, ask questions, and make choices that feel like you.
There's no reason your paintings need to match. One sky might end up brighter. One tree might take a surprising turn. Comparing the two is part of the evening, and you each go home with something you made instead of another photo of your dinner.
An evening with something to do together
Painting gives you a shared activity without requiring you to plan every minute. You can talk while you work, concentrate on a tricky detail, or lean over to see how the other canvas is coming along. It's a chance to pay attention to something beyond the week's errands and schedules.
It also works for a double date. Pick the same public event, share the booking link, and include your friends' names in the seating request when you register. Check the event description before booking so everyone knows the project, length and current price.
Make a simple plan in St. Matthews
Our studio is at 291 N. Hubbards Lane, Suite 160, Louisville, KY 40207, in Woodlawn Shopping Center near Hubbards Lane and Westport Road. Parking is available in the front lot. Give yourselves time to find the studio and settle in before painting begins.
If dinner is part of your night, start by choosing the painting event and build your meal plans around its listed times. Leave a little breathing room between the two. Date night is more enjoyable when nobody has to watch the clock through dessert.
What should we bring?
We provide the canvas, paint, brushes, easel and apron for the painting event. Wear something comfortable that you wouldn't mind getting paint on. An apron helps, but acrylic paint can stain clothing.
You're welcome to bring food, and Starving Artist cheese plates and snacks are available for purchase. Drinks are sold separately at the studio, and water is complimentary. No outside beverages are allowed, including nonalcoholic drinks. Guests must be 21 or older with valid ID to consume alcohol. You can enjoy a painting date whether or not you choose an alcoholic drink.
Pick the painting before you pick the excuse
You don't have to wait for an anniversary. Browse the calendar together and choose a painting you both want to try. Event prices and projects vary, so check the individual listing for what's included, the schedule and age guidance.
Advance registration is requested. Walk-ins may be able to join when a class is running and space is available, but a class can be cancelled before you arrive. Reserving ahead helps us prepare for you and avoids the risk of making a trip to a closed studio.
When two turns into a whole celebration
If your next plan involves a birthday group, an office gathering or a holiday party, ask about a private painting event. Send us your preferred date, approximate guest count and the occasion, and we can talk through the options.
