A little ME time can go a long way!
Have you ever tried a game of golf? Well, if you're not a golfer, it can be super frustrating! But, also liberating. You concentrate SO hard on one activity for an hour or two, and forget about allllllllll the other things going on in your life, that you feel rejuvenated afterwards and ready to jump back into reality. Well, oddly enough, I feel this way a bit with our painting at Pinot's. I think I'm the only one at Pinot's Tustin who isn't an artist! As your bartender, I can tell you I find wine a lot less intimidating than I do painting and art. My major in college was science - so I'd literally rather do a math problem than feel confident in art and my painting abilities! Nerd alert. I know. But yet, I love art! I might not be the best artist in our group (I'm not the one you want to help fix your painting that's for sure!) but I do have a great time forgetting about life and focusing on blending my pink with my white in a background of a painting for a bit. Its relaxing in an I'm concentrating really hard way- a bit of a paradox but also something that leaves me feeling free from my to do list and endless thought process of what I should be doing. When, what I should be doing is having a little me time, and that's ok! It's this idea of self exploration that can lead you to some insightful explorations of yourself. You might just be surprised that stretching your limits from the norm of everyday life can lead to relaxation and and a sense of relief. I recently volunteered at my Mom's classroom (elementary school) and helped her class with an art lesson and they reminded me that "there's no right way to do art" and I think they're right! Nobody's painting turns out the same and that's ok! You get to express yourself and make it your own. There are so many times in life where we are going full speed, trying to do so much for others and do it the right way, or the way someone tells us to (anyone have a boss?). When you paint, you can lose yourself and are free to express yourself in a way that lets you be free from going any specific direction. Sometimes it takes a child to help see the right perspective! I need to hang out with kids more. And paint. So go, do something fun! Whether it be art, golf, surfing, or basket weaving. Its great to stretch yourself and free yourself to get that "rush" of relief from reality!
