Turn Trash Into Treasure This 'Earth Day'!
This April 22nd marks the 49th (official) ‘Earth Day’!
We’ve been taught, all of our lives, just how important it is to treat our planet with respect and kindness. Doing our part, each and every day, even in the smallest of ways, make a big impact on the Earth; It’s important to strive to do what we can, as well as passing the same lessons along to other generations. We only have one planet and if we all work together, we can make big changes to help make it clean and beautiful.
There's an endless supply of ideas that use recycled materials, and sites like, ‘Pinterest’, provide so many wonderful tutorials on them. Rather than tossing away a paper bag, plastic bottle, or any other recyclable materials, why not turn them into something useful and new?! Grab some recyclable materials, along with a few there craft supplies, and get in touch with your inner-artist as you turn trash into treasure!
While there are TONS of excellent craft ideas, we’re a painting studio that sells a lot of wine each week, leaving us with dozens of empty bottles and corks! If you love wine like we do, you likely find yourself in the same situation where you have leftover bottles that you can use in various ways. Whether you go through a bottle or so a week (hey, we don’t judge), or you’re looking for something to do with a huge supply of bottles, say, after a party or get-together, we’ve found some great DIY craft ideas for you!

(*Be sure to keep an eye on our calendar, as were always adding new classes, and a lot of times, we offer painted wine bottle classes! Just like in our canvas painting classes, we’ll walk you through the process, step-by-step, as you create some stunning artwork on a glass bottle. Add a string of lights, and voilà! You’re left with a stunning, ambient, handmade work of art!
*** WAYS YOU CAN HELP THE EARTH! ***
-Get produce from a local Farmer’s Market
Support local farmers who take careful measures to make their produce, clean, healthy, and chemical-free
-Buy reusable bags
Just like with water bottles, constantly using plastic and paper bags, then throwing them away is wasteful and really adds to the amount of garbage in landfills, each year.
-Ride a bike, walk, or carpool
If you are in a situation where you can actually walk, ride your bike, or carpool in order to get from place to place, then it may be time for you to consider that. The fewer cars on the road, the better off that we will be when it comes to our atmosphere.
-Consider making your yard an oasis for birds and other creatures.
You can put in a bird feeder, install birdhouses, put in a bird bath, and more. By making it comfortable for them, they will be more likely to stick around.
-Plant something (like a tree)
Trees are a big part of our earth, and planting one will just add to the health and wellness of the world that we live in.
-Fix leaky faucets
Did you know that this wastes a lot of water on a yearly basis? If you haven’t done so yet, then you may want to look into how you can go ahead and get started with it during the next year.
-Switch all of your bills to paperless
switching all of your bills to e-bills and online invoices can save millions of trees every single year? It’s true! If you are in a position where you can do that without making everything more confusing and stressful, then you definitely want to look at the different things that you can do in the long run.
-Stop drinking bottled water and start using a reusable one
There are plenty of alternatives out there and, if you stop drinking bottled water, you can save a lot of plastic that would, otherwise, be filling up landfills and dumps.
