May Is ‘Date Your Mate’ Month! Celebrate With A Painting & Wine Class!
Take some time to slow down and enjoy life with your other half this May (and all throughout the year), as you celebrate, ‘Date Your Mate’ month!
There are so many things in life that get in the way of us making time for ourselves, let alone for our significant others. It’s hard to carve out time for a date night, night out with friends, or just some time for yourself to do something special….especially with kids, jobs with long hours, and other obligations that come along. May is a great month to start instituting a weekly (or even every-other-week) ‘date night’ with your loved one. Remember that just like your household chores, your job requirements, and more, a relationship takes work and if you don’t put time and effort into it, it just might not work out.
Take back your relationship and start working to make time for one another, any way you can. There are tons of proven benefits, health and happiness, alike, that arise from spending quality time alone with your spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend, fiancé, or other special someone; Be sure to take advantage of all that this time of year offers with it’s nice weather, holiday events, festivals, and more!
Why Is It So Important To ‘Date Your Mate’??
1. It Keeps You Connected
After the dust settles from the wedding day you settle into your day to day life. Setting aside one night a week to go out and do something together is purposeful and keeps you connected as one. When you got married, you joined as one family unit and need to be connected to one another. It can be as simple as going to the grocery store together and then grabbing an ice cream cone on the way home.
2. After The Sparks Simmer, You Need Something Deeper.
As the years start to pass, you both get older and the flashiness of marriage and your relationship can wane thin. You will need to focus on something deeper than just romance. Find a hobby you can both enjoy together and do it. Take up running or puzzles, anything that you both like to do. Fifty years or more is a long time to spend with someone so make sure you are best friends.
3. It Reminds You Why You Fell In Love To Begin With.
When you date your spouse go and do something reminiscent of your early dating years. Think about re-creating a first date as precisely as you can (especially if you still live in or around the same area); If you're living somewhere different than those good old days, come up with a creative way to spend time together like one of your first dates... Wear a similar outfit, order the same food, and rent the same movie you saw in theaters that year!
Bonus: All of the reminiscing from that specific night will naturally lead you to have a lot of conversations about many times from those first few years!
4. It Will Spice Things Up!
Relationships get stale if you don’t try to spice them up. It doesn’t have to be anything wild but try something neither of you has done before. Pinterest has all sorts of boards for inspiration, so there is no excuse.
5. It Gets You Out Of The House For Some Alone Time
Whether you have kids or not, you need to get out of the house every once in a while. A change of scenery can do wonders for your relationship. Try a new restaurant, go for a walk around a scenic part of town, or anything else that will force you to get out and explore things together.
** It’s important to try new things together and a painting and wine class is always a fabulous way to do that! Come in for one of the paintings on our calendar, marked, ‘Date Night’, where you paint one canvas and your other half paints theirs… push them together at the end to see the large painting; OR, select any of the other amazing classes we’re offering and come in together for a night of fun! Our team of artist can give you some suggestions for how to take any of our paintings and turn it into a 2-canvas work of art if you love the “date night” (split canvas) concept! No matter which artwork you choose to create, you’re sure to have a wonderful time together as you listen to music, enjoy some wine and beer, and get creative as you make your masterpieces!
(*)NOTE: The painting above will be offered on June 1 and is titled, ‘Evening Star’. This would be a lovely Date Night painting for you and your special someone to make together!
