Canvas-Free Creativity!
Here at Pinot’s Palette, we LOVE to paint!!! While we almost always offer canvas painting classes, we sometimes add wine glasses, wooden signs, or a canvas tote bag class to the mix, to spice things up a bit!
From glass and ceramic materials, to wooden and other, natural surfaces, art can go anywhere and looks amazing in the strangest of places!
(Just.... you know..... be legal about it) :)
We want to offer some of our favorite ideas for surfaces to paint on, and give you some ideas of how to use them!
Remember that art is something that makes you happy.... it’s something that sparks your creativity and feels right to you! You don’t have to stick to paint... try out other materials like colorful tape or fabric, 'Mod Podge' for collages, and some 3-dimensional items for a sculpture!
Be creative, have fun, and remember: There is no wrong way to create a piece of art!!!

1- Glass, Ceramic, & Metal Surfaces:
*These are some of the best things to paint on! Not only are these items, super easy to find in stores, you can even find them at the dollar store, for a very inexpensive craft project!
Paint some wine glasses with friends, create a customized ceramic mug for a gift, or make a special metal piece of wall art for your home!
The paints are easy to find in any craft store (even at Walmart!), and the options are endless for what to do with them!!!

2- Wooden Surfaces:
*Create one of those super popular wooden signs, without the high price tag! You can buy the pre-made signs at the craft store, buy or make some font stencils and create your own sign! Customize the colors and quotes of your choice.... or, use the wooden sign as your canvas and create a painting on it!
Wooden photo frames are the best! You can buy them for $1 at Michael’s or Walmart and then decorate with paint, fabric, cardstock, stickers, artificial flowers, beads, rocks, and more!
**These are GREAT for the kids to help with and they would make the perfect gift for family, filled with a photo of their loved ones!

3- Stress-relief on the go:
*Keep a small journal or sketchbook with you and let it be your creative outlet, on the go! Wherever inspiration strikes, you’ll be ready!!
You can keep them at home, as well, and make it a part of your daily life: write positive thoughts at the beginning or end of each day, or sketch something everyday, to build up your skills and creativity!

4- Back to grade school:
*It’s 2017 and completely acceptable for adults to use coloring books! What was once a child’s pastime, is now gracing us in a healthy way. as coloring reduces stress!
Whether you’ve got a fun book and a pack of sharpened crayons at home, or have some apps in your phone, to color whenever you want, give it a try and see what comes from it! You may be surprised at what 20 min of coloring a day can do for you!

5- Think BIG:
(Wall murals)- both inside and outside:
*If you’re a painting master and want to go big or go home.... you may be able to do both! Don’t pay the high price of a “professional” muralist to come paint a castle and princess on your daughter’s wall... do it yourself! Hey, if you mess up or get tired of it, you can always paint over it!
If you’re an artist who really wants to take their art to another level, think (literally) “outside” the box.... check local businesses and see if anyone wants a free (or greatly-discounted) wall mural on the side of their building... sign your name at the bottom, of course!!
**You can also get creative on the blank side of your shed, a section of fence, or any other outdoor area you may want to beautify!
Sidewalk chalk:
Want to create some art outside, on a large, natural surface, but aren’t sure about the longevity of your work? If you’re not trying to commit to seeing something permanent, everyday, until it wears off (in many, many years....), try something much less-permanent.... Chalk!
This timeless, outside artwork material can be fun for you and the kids to create together, and the best part??- it will wash off when it rains!

Come to our studio, in Tustin! We’re located in ‘The District’ shopping center and we want to see you! You will love getting creative in our paint-filled studio, where you don’t have to worry if something falls on the floor (unlike at home)!
We offer 2-3 hour painting classes (on canvas), but sometimes offer even more unique painting ideas! From wine glasses and bottles, to wooden signs and palettes, we do a lot!
