The Importance Of Hobbies
It's so important to take some time for yourself, every now and then. With the craziness of life, it's not always easy to do. Having a hobby to put some of yourself and your time into, is fulfilling in more ways than one.
Participating in pastimes you enjoy, like drawing, cooking, and writing, gives your mind a break from anxiety and tension because you’re focusing on a completely unrelated activity. Enter, hobbies...
A hobby is an activity that you adopt, unrelated to work (your job). Hobbies help to take your mind off tension and pressure that you might be feeling and allow you to dive into activities that you actually enjoy. There are no bosses to look over your shoulder while you indulge in your hobby, as it's truly something, just for you!
Hobbies have been around since ancient times, but few people use them as an effective tool to help beat stress. The secret is in choosing a pastime that not only piques your interest, but that you find mentally engaging, as well. A major component of stress is worry. A leisurely activity tray you find interesting, crowds out thoughts of worry by replacing them with positive ideas and study.
Many of you may already have beloved hobbies, that you've been into for years... they help you to unwind after a long day, assist in lifting you up when you're going through a rough time, or may simply just serve as a fun way to use your spare time! Whether it's your weekly yoga class, journaling every night, or cooking with new recipes every few days, you love these pastimes and understand that they help!
Surprise, surprise.... our favorite hobby is painting! We absolutely love to take some time, every chance we get, to create something! Making artwork is certainly one of the most talked about forms of stress relief. There have been countless studies, showing the mental benefits of partaking in some form of art. You can get a small sketchbook to take with you and sketch anytime you're inspired, take a set of watercolors outside and paint your favorite spots in nature, and more! Even cooking is a form of art to so many people!
Art is an amazing form of stress relief and can make such a positive improvement on mental health. It is also, constantly used in 'Art Therapy', helping those who suffer from conditions such as Alzheimer's, autism, physical handicaps, and more! It's truly an incredible form of relief, in so many ways.

If you've never been to our studio for a class, there's no better time than now! Come see for yourself, what a 2 to 3 hour painting class can do for you! One of the most frequent things we hear from our customers is how relaxing and fun of an environment our studio makes! Many of our customers come to our classes after a long day at work, and we hear, time and time again, how our class turned a bad day into a good one.
Being able to sit and relax with friends, drink some wine, and paint along to some music, is about as relaxing and fun as it gets! There are so many ways to create a painting, and you shouldn't feel the need to recreate it the exact same way as the artist or your friend... it's YOUR masterpiece and you should make it how you want! We encourage you to relax and make it fun. Don't stress about perfection because that's not what art is for... it's a way to unleash your inner creative self and feel good in the process!
Many of our frequent customers have chosen painting as their special, relaxing hobby!!! It's amazing to see people who came to their first class, and hadn't painted since they were little, adopting this as their hobby! They more they came, the more they learned, and it took over from there! Some of our long-time customers, have their own supplies at home, to paint and practice every day, and they love to show us pictures of the things they've created, on their own!
One of the best parts about working at a studio, like Pinot's Palette, is hearing and seeing such positive feedback after a class. To know that something as simple as a 2 hour painting class, made a huge difference in someone's day, is why we do it... we love to watch others discover a talent or hobby they never knew they had!
Check out our calendar, below, for more information and to sign up for a class! We feel confident that it will end up being one of your favorite ways to spend time, relaxing, and getting to know the artist inside of you! Even if painting doesn't turn out to be your forte, hopefully it will help to inspire you to find a hobby that is perfect for you!
Cheers!
