Finding Inspiration For Creativity!
Knowing the underlying components of inspiration makes it easy to see why it’s such a powerful force. When you’re inspired, you’re not just motivated; you’re thinking in a new way, which can lead you to those big, breakthrough, “a-ha” moments. Of course, ‘knowledge is power’ when it comes to sparking these moments.Whether you’re a lifelong artist, someone who dabbles here and there, or just starting to find your inner-creative self, you need inspiration to create art. Art comes form within; it comes from expressing yourself in a visual way, and can be kept personal or for others to see.
You need inspiration for your life in many ways! Even if you don’t create art or do anything extremely creative, on the regular, you still need that extra push to keep going. You may need inspiration to help you achieve your weight loss goal, to help you make decisions, pertaining to your children, or just for getting through the long and tough workday.
As humans, we all have the ability to inspire one another, whether it’s intentional or not; Who knows, you could very well be the subject of someone else’s inspiration!
Here at Pinot’s Palette, we love to inspire others in their creative life! Something as fun and easy as a night out with friends, creating a masterpiece of your own, can inspire you to be more creative in other areas of your life! We offer 2-3 hour classes, where a professional artist will walk you through the painting, step by step. Don’t worry if you don’t have any prior painting experience, we’re meant for everyone, at any stage! You’ll have so much fun, trying something new if this is your first time painting! If you love to create on your own, everyday, you’ll still enjoy our classes, as you can follow along with the class, or add your own creative touches to the canvas!
As artists, we know how important it is to find inspiration for our artwork. Whether you’re a painter, writer, chef, or parent.... you need inspiration in your life! Remember to look around you, at the things you see and hear, the people you interact with, and other inspirational, moving forms of life.
Check out these suggestions on where to find creativity and run with them! Who knows what you may find and where it could lead you?!
1- Let go of the usual.
*Don’t continue to do every thing as you’ve always done... think outside the box and outside of your usual routine. It’s amazing that something so simple as changing your route to work, reading a different paper in the morning, or watching different television shows can change your perspective.
You’ll find new thoughts and ideas when you see the world from a new perspective. Inspiration comes from, not only what is in us, but also all around us.
2- Embrace your daydreams.
*”Never give up on something you can’t go a day, without thinking about.” This quote is such a good one, as it reminds us that our subconscious is always trying to tell us something!
“The inherent, randomness of daydreaming, makes it a perfect activity for triggering inspiration, as it can help you find connections between seemingly unrelated ideas. By allowing your mind the freedom to roam, the chances that you're going to have an insight are much higher. It's likely that you are going to recombine pieces of information in a novel way.”
3- Write down your ideas, good or bad.
*This one is important, as it will help you clear your mind of thoughts and ideas you have or may not even know are there. Even having 100 bad ideas in front of you is better than having no ideas, at all. “In fact, researchers have found that the more variance you have in the quality of your ideas (i.e., some are terrible, some are “meh,” and some are alright), the more likely you’ll be to arrive at truly great idea.”
4-Other creative thinkers.
*It’s a wonderful thing to have other friends with creative minds, who you can bounce ideas off of. Take the time to sit and talk together, talking about what inspires you and where you pull your creativity from. Artists sometimes fall into a rut and need the help of others to emerge. Help your friends and yourself, battle any loss of inspiration, with guidance and brainstorming great ideas!
Speaking of looking to others for inspiration, it doesn’t always have to be a group of friends. Reading books about others' accomplishments and experiences, watching shows or movies, just sitting and observing others, all can help you to use those around you for ideas and new perspective.
5- Look to the world, around you.
*Take some time to sit and watch the land and people. Observe an amazing waterfall, climb a mountain, walk through a botanical garden, and more! Seeing the incredible world around you, for all of its natural beautiful, can produce some amazing things in your mind and your art!
If you want to look at man-made creations, visit a museum, stop into a venue with live music, listen in on a poetry reading, and more! There is so much to learn and experience, all around us, so why not take the time to do so?! Love and learn in the world you’re a part of and see where it leads you!
