Host A Spring Wine-Tasting Event This Season!
Tips For A Spring Wine-Tasting Brunch To Remember
As the days stretch a little longer, those heavier reds typically give way to crisp whites, delicate rosés, and light-bodied blends that feel refreshing rather than their cozy winter counterparts.
This is the season of outdoor sipping, floral notes, and wines that pair perfectly with sunshine, friendship, and carefree days. To us, there’s no better way to celebrate that seasonal shift than gathering your closest friends for a relaxed, at-home wine tasting; It’s equal parts elevated and effortless!
SET THE SCENE
You can create a delightful Spring wine tasting without making it complicated. Start with a light, airy table setup: think soft florals, linen napkins, and simple glassware. Next, choose 3–5 wines to sample (maybe a mix of rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or even a chilled light red), then build your food around those.
*Light bites are the key for a brunch, so try something like a cheese board with brie and goat cheese, some fresh fruit, crostini, smoked salmon, mini quiches, or even put together a bright spring salad.
The goal isn’t a heavy meal, but a curated spread that lets everyone graze, sip, and relax. It should feel like something special… without feeling like work.
WINE TASTING
While you’ll want to pair your wine with food to get a “brunch” feel, here are some tips for making it more concentrated on a “wine tasting”...
— Number each bottle and either keep them visible or do a casual “blind tasting” by covering labels.
— Give each guest a simple scorecard (you can print or handwrite them) with space to rate each wine based on taste, aroma, and overall favorite.
— Pour small amounts at a time and move through the wines together, chatting about what you like (or don’t).
— At the end, tally up favorites and “crown” a winner. It turns a simple get-together into an experience, and gives everyone something to remember (and maybe a new favorite bottle to bring home).
There’s no need to be an expert! Half the fun is comparing notes and discovering how different everyone’s preferences are.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about the wine, but more about slowing down, catching up, and creating a little moment of joy with your favorite people.
DECOR + DRESS CODE
When it comes to the decor, Spring does most of the heavy lifting for you. The beauty of the season is already everywhere—blue skies, blooming flowers, and that fresh pop of green in every direction—so you don’t need to overthink it. A few simple touches, like a small bouquet of fresh flowers, soft pastel linens, or even just opening the windows for natural light, can instantly set the mood.
To make it feel extra fun and intentional, consider adding a light dress code for your group. Something like “pastels only” or “florals only” gives everyone an excuse to lean into the season, show off a cute outfit, and makes the whole gathering feel a little more special (and very photo-worthy)… Who doesn’t love a theme?!
Simple decor and outfit themes offer a fun and easy way to elevate the day without requiring any real effort from your guests… or you!
