What Are Some Great Ways To Reduce Stress?
We know how stressful things have been these past few months. Rules and guidelines are changing all of the time, the kids have been home for MUCH longer than usual, family vacations aren’t what they typically are. The stress can truly wear on us, and sometimes we just need to take a minute for yourself and de-stress.
Check out these ways to reduce stress:
BREATH
Meditation has long been heralded as a pathway to good health, a practice that can help you unplug, de-stress and increase your happiness. Some even claim it can slow aging.
There is scientific research that suggests meditation can reduce blood pressure, help ease symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, help relieve anxiety and depression and be a useful tool in treating insomnia.
But if despite your best efforts, you can’t meditate, this is where some good old deep breathing comes in handy!
Take some good, long deep breaths and then slowly exhale. Repeat 6-7 times and be sure to take note of how your breath feels as it enters and leaves your body.
Keep your thoughts still and concentrate on your slow breathing.. this is the best thing you can do in a pinch. No matter where you are and what you’re doing, taking a few seconds to breath is a sure-fire way to instantly relieve stress.
CALL A LOVED ONE
Communication is absolutely vital for every relationship, whether it’s with a spouse, a child, a parent, or a dear friend. In our harried, hectic daily lives, we can often forget just how important simple acts are for maintaining a strong, healthy connection, but by devoting some time to re-establishing those connective threads with those we love, we can keep our bonds strong.
When you call, email, text, voice message, or FaceTime a loved one, you’re not only reducing your stree, but your loved one’s stress, as well!
EXPRESS YOURSELF
Journaling is a wonderful way to get in-touch with yourself (and stay in-touch) on a regular basis.
Write some happy thoughts for the day; List some things you’re grateful for…
Talk about someone from your past or present, recalling memories you shared; Write how you feel and what you want for the future.
List your goals or dreams… ANYTHING that gets in-touch with you as a person, your life, and is positive content is the right track!
Journaling is a wonderful thing to do for personal-expression and happiness.

HAVE A SPA DAY
Heat relaxes muscles—and taking a long bath can be soothing for the mind as well. Stock up on your favorite bath salts and soaps, get a bath pillow, and decorate the room with candles.
Incorporate music, masks, and other body products to make it a full spa day.
LISTEN TO MUSIC
Listening to soothing music can be very relaxing—and slow tempos in particular can induce a calm state of mind. (It can also slow down breathing and heart rate, lower blood pressure, and relax tense muscles too). This can be particularly beneficial when you're getting ready for a tough day at work, or if you're in your car stuck in traffic, or, if you're lying in bed trying to free your mind of stressful thoughts.
