Cookie Exchange Ideas and Tips!
A cookie swap is a great chance to show off your baking skills and share your well-loved family recipes with all of your friends. It provides a perfect excuse to get your family baking together—recruit the kids to help roll out the dough and decorate the cookies with icing and sprinkles. It's an occasion to make Grandma's tried-and-true snickerdoodles or try out that innovative new shortbread that arrived in your email inbox.

—— COOKIE SWAP + PAINT PARTY ——
There have been many events on our calendar where we offer TWO things in ONE class! For instance, this month, we’re offering classes where you can learn to make (and then eat off of) a charcuterie board and also do a painting! Sometimes, it’s yoga and a painting, movie trivia and a painting, and more! It’s also common for people/groups to book a private party where they get delicious food brought in, sometimes play games or have other activities, and of course… paint!
We love the idea of pairing painting with an activity (heck, our name is ‘Pinot’s Palette’ of course), so we invite you to explore our ‘Paint At Home
https://www....paint-at-home
Set up the time for your cookie exchange and pair it with a painting for all of your guests. They’ll leave with a box of cookies AND a handmade work of art.
It’s Simple:
— Choose the painting you want to create
—Let us know if you need the materials or if you have them at home
—Decide between the written instructions or the recorded ones to walk you through the steps
—Paint! :) That’s right - just like in our public classes, you’ll take it one step at a time with all of your friends as you paint you masterpieces.
Be sure to take plenty of photos!

—— HOW TO HOST A COOKIE EXCHANGE ——
The first thing you need to do in order to host a cookie swap is to choose your date and then invite friends.
Obviously, you need to do what works best for you here.
And your party doesn’t necessarily be centered around the cookie swap. You could make it a mother/daughter party, an ugly sweater party, a girlfriend get-together, a kids’ holiday party, an office party, a neighborhood party, etc., and involve the cookie swap element, too!
Since you’re hosting this shindig, you get to decide the rules and pass them along to your guests.
Why? So you can set expectations immediately on what this cookie swap will be (and what it won’t be.)
Some things you might want to consider are…
* What qualifies as a cookie?
* Can guests bring things like homemade candies (like Saltine Cracker Toffee) or fudge, Rice Krispie treats, other no-bake goodies like Buckeyes or Rum Balls, etc.?
* Is this cookie swap going to feature homemade cookies only?
Continuing that last bullet point: Are you OK with store-bought or slice-and-bake cookies? (Please keep in mind that not everyone loves to bake, and your friend not loving to bake should not exclude them from this event!)
* Do you want guests to bring home a certain number of cookies? If so, you’re going to need to tell them how many.
* If you want homemade-only cookies, state this. If you’re cool with store-bought or slice-and-bake cookies, state that.
* What's the best way for your guests to run cookies by you? This is really important unless you don’t want to coordinate this piece. You might want to know what types of cookies are coming just so that you can confirm there won’t be duplicates of one type of recipe.
