Ways To Give Back This ‘Giving Season'
They say giving is better than receiving.Giving can be especially rewarding during the holiday season when the spirit of community and generosity is in the air.
So whether giving back is already a holiday season tradition of yours, or you want to start something new, pull your loved ones together and do something special for others — opportunities to lend a helping hand are plentiful.
The last quarter of the year is known as the ‘Giving Season’ by nonprofit organizations. There are a number of national holidays in the last few months of the year and this may make people feel inclined to give more generously than in other months of the year.
*** Here are some of our ideas To Give Back During The Giving Season….
----> Painting It Forward
(*With ‘Pinot’s Palette’):
The giving season, the season of giving, year-end – whatever you call them, the last few months of the year are critical to your fundraising efforts. In fact, more than 30% of annual giving happens in December, and 10% happens in the last three days of the year alone!
Commitment to our community and partners is one of our values. Local charities and non-profit organizations are welcome to partner with our local studios. Each year all of our locations and customers come together to support a worthy cause in a single nationwide event!
We're proud to partner with amazing non-profit organizations and local charities that help our communities. Whether we're hosting an event at our location or donating items to help your organization grow, we can work together. Learn how to become a part of Painting it Forward by contacting a studio near you.
At Pinot’s Palette, we’re enthusiastic about supporting and bettering our communities. From national fundraisers for children’s research hospitals to city-wide events for the SPCA involving multiple studios to local paint nights for scout troops and family fundraisers, Pinot’s Palette has partnered with countless amazing non-profits and individuals in countless ways.
Painting It Forward events are paint and sip classes where proceeds go to the partner organization, usually a 501(c)3. They can be private events with a select guest list or public classes that are open to your whole community. We’ll also work with your organization to set up other details – like silent auctions, catering, custom paintings, or other important details. It's one of the easiest (and most fun) ways to raise money! Our studios have beautiful spaces equipped with all the details you'll need, including audio equipment, and a bar that serves wine, beer, and spirits. We also have a helpful staff to help guide your guests. For extra-large groups or special events, some studios can also host painting fundraisers at the location of your choosing, indoors or outdoors. Planning and setup of painting fundraisers are streamlined and flexible. From scheduling to logistics, we’ll make sure all the details are arranged.

---> Warm Someone Up With a Homemade Blanket, Hat, or Scarf
“One of my favorite hobbies is knitting, and there’s little I love more than spending a cozy weekend curled up with a project. Over the past few years, I’ve started donating cold-weather garments (like hats, scarves, and mittens) to local shelters in my area. I have a lot of friends who are big into fiber arts as well, and we’ll get together on a few Saturdays through the season to knit and crochet together. It’s a great way to create community and provide warmth to those in need. If you’re looking for an organization to donate to, Project Linus distributes homemade blankets to children. Knots of Love also provides people who are going through chemo treatments with handmade beanies and blankets.”
---> Operation Christmas Child
“Growing up, my family and I always set aside one evening during the holiday season to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The boxes are sent to children in need (many in orphanages!) in more than 100 countries, and it’s so special to be able to choose toys and clothes for a child in a particular age group and spend time thinking about what they’d be delighted to receive. We’d meet up with friends at Target and fill our carts with all our goodies, then go home and have a wrapping party with hot cocoa and Christmas music.
---> Pay Someone’s Layaway Balance
Pay Away the Layaway is a non-profit organization that helps to pay off layaway balances for families in need. By donating, you can pay off balances on gifts for children—everything from games, toys, and books to backpacks, clothes, and coats. What better way to give back this holiday season than by helping those in need provide their families with the things they need, as well as gifts for a real holiday miracle?
---> Spend time in nursing homes with those who don't have families.
Throughout the country, there are people in nursing homes who don't have families to visit them during the holidays, and that can certainly be a lonely feeling. The Holiday Project is an organization that "brings the spirit of a holiday to those who otherwise might not have a celebration." They organize visits to people in nursing homes, although they've sadly decided to end the organization this year after nearly 50 years in service. However, you still have time to find a nursing home in your area to visit this holiday season on their website.

---> Donate your flight miles.
Most everyone knows about the charitable work Make-A-Wish does every year, but through the travel wishes they grant, they need more than 2.8 billion miles or 50,000 round-trip tickets. A simple way you can help out? Donate your miles. If you've saved up your frequent flier miles, you can donate them to their Wishes in Flight program where they don't expire and are used to "help grant a life-changing wish experience.”

---> Donate free Christmas trees to military families.
By donating to the Christmas Spirit Foundation, you can support the armed forces in their holiday celebrations this year. This organization provides free, farm-grown Christmas trees to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. In 2018, they provided more than 16,500 free trees to military families across the country.
