Don’t Feed The Ducks: Painting For A Great Cause
These creatures are so beautiful, graceful, and any animal lover would enjoy sitting near the water and tossing them some food. It serves as a way to bond with nature as we watch their feathered bodies waddle and swim.
Just as the title of our painting implies, you should never feed ducks bread (or any kind of junk food*). Foods like bread and crackers have no nutritional value to ducks and can cause malnutrition and painful deformities if consumed too much.
Not only is it not nutritious, but the bread will also attract many other birds and cause overcrowding, which in turn results in an increase in droppings. This can cause further disruption, such as slippery surfaces and possible damage to habitats and waterways.
These are all very important things to remember and the reason for our hosting a fabulous fundraising event at our studio! We’re working with the community to help raise awareness about this common occurrence as we paint the night away for a great cause!

So, What CAN You Feed The Ducks Instead?
*** Feed ducks cracked corn, oats, rice (cooked or uncooked), birdseed, frozen peas, chopped lettuce, or sliced grapes.
These foods are similar to natural foods ducks will forage for on their own! :)
*** Be sure to clean up after yourself; Make sure to dispose of all trash, including plastic wrappers, twist ties, and uneaten food.
*** Keep a respectful distance and remain non-threatening, especially to ducklings who may become stressed or injured more easily.
