JASPER JOHNS
May 29 - Vintage Flag
Its surface may age over time, but this all-American design never goes out of style!
Upgrade to Wood Pallet or Wooden Tea Tray for $10. Just in time for Memorial Day!
You have likely heard the name, 'Jasper Johns', but might not be very familiar with his work. This American flag mixed media masterpiece is perhaps his most well-known work!
He made this work by combining panels, paint, and encaustic—a mixture of pigment and melted wax that captured the paint’s drips, smears, and brushstrokes. Beneath the flag’s familiar stripes, we can make out a collage of newspaper scraps whose dates locate this commonplace symbol within a particular moment.
He also has a painting that is THREE flags on top of one another that we love as well!

These purple mountains are breathtaking and worth painting. Who could forget Bob Ross and his happy little trees? Well, Ross was known for more than just his shrubbery; Mountains frequently made their way into his masterpieces and in under 30 minutes too! An amazing oil painting created before your eyes in just 30 minutes? That's a pretty tricky thing to do for even the greatest of artists, and THAT is just one of the reason Bob Ross will forever be an icon.
