*** DIY BEACHY SUMMER WREATH ***
- What You’ll Need:
12 inch Styrofoam Wreath Form
Styrofoam Cones (5)
5/8 inch Dowel Rod
2 inch Styrofoam Ball
Craft Sand
Mod Podge
Craft Paint (Colors of your choice, including a light blue for the sky and yellow for sand)
Hot Glue Gun
- Directions:
Step 1.
Paint the top 3/4 of the wreath with sky blue paint. Paint the bottom 1/4 of the wreath yellow.
Step 2.
Apply a generous layer of Mod Podge to the yellow section of the wreath form. Sprinkle and press sand into the Mod Podge. Gently tap off the excess. The yellow sand will create the beach part of your wreath.
Step 3.
Paint each cone a different color. The example uses bright Summery colors. To minimize the mess, paint the base of the cone first. Then carefully inserted a toothpick in the cone and painted the top. When the whole cone was painted sit the pick in a styrofoam disk so the paint could dry.
Step 4.
Use washi tape to paint sections of the ball. The example used the same paint colors that I used on the “umbrella.” Let one color dry before starting the next one.
Step 5.
Stain or paint the dowel rod brown. Once it is dry, hot glue it to the DIY summer wreath form. The example wreath in the photo was glued mine at an angle.
Step 6.
Arrange the cones to make a beach umbrella shape. Once you are happy with the arrangement, add hot glue to the back to hold the cones in place, and hot glue the “umbrella” to the dowel rod.
And Last: Hot glue the “beach ball” to the sandy beach, under the umbrella. If you want to embellish the DIY summer wreath more you can add mini pails, shovels, or any other beach accessory you can think of.
