How to Paint Clouds
What you will need:
- Canvas
- Flat Brush
- Blue and white acrylic paint
- Wine (amount optional)
For all that’s good and holy in the name of Bob Ross, we need our happy, fluffy clouds! Painting clouds are fun and relaxing just like listening to the cloud guru himself. We all learned how to draw a cloud at the age of five years old and really…. not much has changed in the cloud game. Here are a few tips to help you create your very own pillows in the sky!
Paint the top of your canvas with the blue acrylic paint. Long, broad strokes work best. While your paint is still wet start creating your clouds. Dip your brush in a little white paint and begin painting semi-circle shapes from the left side of your cloud to the right. You may start out low arcs on the side and a little higher in the middle. The bottom of the cloud can be flat.
Without rinsing your brush thoroughly, dip your brush in your water and follow the shapes of your arcs filling in your cloud. For the middle of your cloud alternate between the blue and white paint. You want to be able to see both colors.
Join us for a class if you want to show off your new technique or want to have a professional artist help you one on one. We have several beautiful paintings coming up this month and next month that highlight painting clouds!
