Painting it Forward for The Safe Haven Network
If you love pets, you're going to LOVE this!At Pinot's Palette Logan Square, we take great pride in helping non-profit groups fundraise in a fun and creative way, donating back generously to the organization. When Jessica from The Safe Haven Network walked into our studio one day last fall, promoting their annual pet supply drive, we had an opportunity to learn more about the meaningful work performed by The Safe Haven Network.
The Safe Haven Network provides safe housing for pets of domestic violence victims while their owners are staying in domestic violence shelters. When we heard about their work and mission, we were overwhelmed. Simply put, it is an issue we didn't realize existed. One can only imagine how much more difficult it is for a victim of domestic violence to leave their situation when they have others to care for, including their pets. In shocking statistics provided on The Safe Haven Network website, 52% of domestic violence victims in shelters leave their pets with their batterers (NCADV)*, 71% of pet-owning women entering shelters report that their batterer also harmed family pets (NCADV)* and a shocking 65% of domestic violence victims do not escape their abusers because they are concerned for the safety of their pets (Carlisle-Frank, Frank and Nielsen, 2004)*. Thank goodness for The Safe Haven Network.
The Safe Haven Network alleviates pet care and safety concerns for victims of domestic violence through partnerships with local animal shelters and foster networks in Chicago that operate emergency boarding programs. By providing a dedicated service to provide shelter for the pets of these victims, The Safe Haven Network offers safety, support and peace of mind to pet owners that their pet is free from abuse while they seek domestic violence assistance.
On Sunday, February 12th, we are Painting it Forward for The Safe Haven Network and we invite you to join us for our fun and rewarding sip and paint Project Pet Event! Project Pet is a special event where our talented artists help guests customize a canvas and paint a portrait of a beloved pet.
Project Pet is a customized portrait class offered in our paint and sip studio in Logan Square. Guests who register for this rewarding event submit a photo of one of their pets to our art team. We print a high quality grayscale image of your furry family member onto canvas in advance of the event. At Project Pet, our talented art team helps you create a palette specific to your pet’s colors and provides guidance on painting the portrait of your of your fur baby. This may seem daunting for some, but all of our classes are designed for beginners. No art experience is required to sip and paint and the pet portrait results are amazing!
Come paint a custom portrait of your pet at our Project Pet event. Paint a portrait of your own pet or paint a portrait of another furry friend as a gift for someone. Pet portraits make amazing gifts, especially for those who have lost one of their beloved pet family members.
Sip and paint like you’ve never done before. This event is an incredibly rewarding experience! Best of all, we'll create treasured portraits of our pets while supporting the amazing work done by The Safe Haven Network!
