Father’s Day Present and Past
Simple things can mean the most. One of my best preserved memories is of my Dad, sister, and I all piled into an inflatable boat out on our favorite lake. We definitely exceeded both the two-person and 200lb limit and were floating with tree inches of boat above the water toward the buoy line by the pull of the waves. It was quiet except for two young boys creating an occasional “ping” as they threw pebbles at the metal buoy. Dad sighed, “This is better than TV.”
He was right. Peace and happiness return when I replay that memory. This is my wish for you this Father’s day; my wish is that you will smile to remember the memories you’ve made.
I invite you to make a new one, one that’s better than TV. Whether you decide to bring your father for a relaxing afternoon of soft brushstrokes and $5 craft beer (my dad likes Pilsner and the Golden Nektar from Eight Bridges is, “very drinkable”), or whether you decide to come and paint your favorite childhood lake memory and dedicate your masterpiece to dad, this painting is smooth sailing!
