What's Your Favorite Color?

This awkward filler question adults use when they're stuck in small-talk conversation usually garners a good laugh. For kids, they are genuinely interested when they ask this question. When asked, "what is your favorite color?" do you really know? Or do you just spit out a color of the rainbow the first comes to mind? Take a moment and really think about what your favorite color is. Your result might be surprising, and you might find something new about yourself. If you already have a favorite color, why is it your favorite color?

My favorite color is "Cabernet" (which happens to be my favorite wine varietal as well, coincidence?) in Pantone's color chart. Why I love it? The short answer: It's such a warm and inviting color that is timeless. The long answer: Fall is my favorite season, with all the beautiful colors, and "cabernet," to me, seems to be an all encompassing color of the season. When I find a dress in this color, I always buy it, as I imagine myself wearing it to a dinner party with great conversation, elegant hors d'oeuvres, a bold red wine and a crackling fire in the background. In real life, I usually sport my new "cabernet" dress on a crisp, Fall day shopping with a fun hat and end shopping with a happy hour. Both are wonderful in my book. The color is also nostalgic for me as well. It takes me back to my college years. My best friends and I are connected through this color, as we would not have met if it weren't for Pi Beta Phi. It was one of our sorority colors, and every year we sported dresses of different styles in this color. We were uniform, but still able to express our individuality, and the color made every single girl look stunning. Lastly, this color warms my heart. Whether or not I'm having a good or bad day, I come home to finish the day with a glass of cabernet and it makes everything in life just wonderful!
