12 Ways To Use Your Time, Now That Daylight Savings Has Ended
Daylight savings time has come to an end, once again! That means longer days with more sunlight, preparing us for Spring and Summer! In addition to those longer days, we’ll start to have warmer weather, more time to enjoy life, and more feelings of happiness (research has proven it!). Don’t let that extra hour you’ve been gifted, go to waste! Make the most out of your new-found time and live these next 7 months differently.
While we won’t actually be gaining an hour like we do in the Fall, we will be granted a later time when the sun goes down so it’ll feel like you have more time! There are tons of positive things to do with that extra time, and even if it’s just as simple as spending more time with loved ones, catching up, enjoying a longer meal, watching more tv, taking a walk, etc, then that’s great! We’d like to suggest some additional ways to use your longer days, throughout the next few months as Summer draws more near and the daylight, stretched even further!
1.Workout
*Make good on those New Years resolutions and get back on track with heating eating and working out!
Go for a hike, bike ride, a walk, or join a fun workout class like Zumba or another dance class!
2.Say, ‘Om’ with a yoga class
*Get in touch with your inner-self with some relaxing ways to stretch, breath, and improve your strength and flexibility.
3. Read
*Start that book you’ve been eyeing or tackle that stack of magazines you never have time for. Transplant yourself into a make-believe world for a while or read some fun or helpful articles out of a magazine!
4.Make some time for you!
*Go and get a massage or a manicure, take a bubble bath, or anything else that’s relaxing and rare that you have time for!
5.Plan a romantic evening for your significant other.
*Take some time to reconnect with the one your love! Make (or go out for) a delicious meal, rent a movie, spend time in a beautiful location, or anything else that lets you and your special someone, spend quality time together.
6.Catch up with a friend or family member
*It’s easy to let life get in the way of things like calling or FaceTiming the ones you love. Use that extra time to get in touch with someone you’ve been missing and see what’s going on in their life!
7.Volunteer for a charity you like.
*Giving your time to those in need is ALWAYS an incredibly wonderful and selfless way to dedicated an extra hour. Help walk dogs, visit with the elderly, raise money for an organization, or anything else that’s near and dear to your heart.
8.Clean and organize
*Tackle that overflowing pantry or your bedroom closet and donate anything you no longer need, to Goodwill. Clean out things that rarely get cleaned like the oven, fridge, or between those sofa cushions.
9.Garden!
*Now that the weather is starting to warm up, you’ll be able to spend more time outside, making good use of your green thumb! Plant some spring flowers or grow some veggies if you’re really talented! Herbs are a fabulous alternative to a vegetable garden if you’re a beginner!
10.Do a little feng shui
*Rearrange the furniture in any room. This is will put you in the mood to embrace a new season as you change your surroundings for a fresh new start! (Spring will be officially here, March 20)
11.Organize the family photos
*Go through all of those pics on your computer or phone. Delete any that you have duplicates of (too many selfies… or pics of your furry pals…) and organize them. Create albums on Facebook or just on your phone or computer and even get some printed. Scrapbook is another great way to spend some time and you can use those photos to add to your collection.
12.Do something creative
*Whether you’ve been letting one of your creative hobbies go because there isn’t enough time in the day OR if you’ve been wanting to take up a creative hobby, now's the time! The days are only going to get longer and Summer typically allows for more free time (especially if you’re a teacher), so it’s the perfect time to get that creative side of your brain moving.
Visit a local museum, knit, take a cooking class, etc and see how relaxing it can be!
OR -- How about a painting class…..
We’d love to invite you to join us at Pinot’s Palette, Brier Creek, where you can take some time for yourself, getting creative and relaxing at the same time!! We’re a painting and wine studio where you can spend time in a fun and creative environment, hanging out with loved ones, creating a handmade work of art. You’ll be able to relax with friends, sip some wine, listen to some great music, and paint along with one of our talented instructors. You’ll have such fun, making your masterpiece and will leave the class with a handmade work of art that you’ll treasure, forever, along with the memories you made, creating it!
Unfortunately, it tends to be our hobbies, and the fun things that we do with our extra time, that get pushed to the side when there isn’t enough time in the day. With the longer days of Spring and Summer, vastly approaching, now is the perfect time to get back to the things you love most! Spend some time on yourself, working on your hobbies or finding some new ones to try! We make the perfect place for first-time painters, who are trying to either learn a new hobby or just have fun, trying something new!
