"This World Humanitarian Day, we continue to bring attention to the millions of civilians affected by armed conflict every day. People in cities and towns struggle to find food, water, and safe shelter, while fighting drives millions from their homes. Children are recruited and used to fight, and their schools are destroyed. Women are abused and humiliated. As humanitarian workers deliver aid, and medical workers treat the wounded and sick, they are directly targeted, treated as threats, and prevented from bringing relief and care to those in desperate need.
The humanitarian concerns described here can’t possibly capture the lives of all those affected by conflict around the world. From people with disabilities, to the elderly, migrants, and journalists, all civilians caught in conflict need to be protected."

Being in a position to give to others can feel so much better than getting something for yourself. All it takes is one, kind act to make someone’s day, and encourage them to pass that kindness along. Even if your life is complete and fulfilled with happiness, why not share the greatness you have found and allow others to feel even a hint of how it feels to be self-satistifed? It is always important to remember that there may come a time when you may need the help of others and that you may look on people to offer up their kindness. Giving to others, not in materialistic items, but in time and goodness, allows you to welcome those things that are important, into your life. You are always rewarded for the good things you do in life in more ways than you are even aware of. Perhaps the person that you helped, went on to "pay it back” and help others… This repetition of kindness and love will start to change the world, even in the smallest of ways, helping to bring out a better society, as a whole.
If you haven’t heard about us or our classes, we are a paint and wine studio who takes pride in helping first-time painters, learn to paint! Though anyone at any painting-skill-level will love our classes, the majority of our customers haven’t painted since grade school and they typical come to us claim that they “can’t paint”. We have a talented and encouraging staff, including an instructor who will walk you through the painting, step by step, so don’t be intimidated if it’s your first time… that's what we’re here for! Our 2-3 hour classes are filled with fun and creativity as you sip wine, paint to some great music, stop to mingle during the breaks, and then leave the class with a handmade masterpiece that YOU made. We’re all about having fun but we do try and use our studio and brand as a platform for the good.
We want to do our part to help our country and our local community around us, as often as we can. There are many traumatic disasters, both natural and man-made that are cause for people to come together and lend a helping hand in assisting our fellow-men during these times. Whether it’s something at large as a wildfire or hurricane relief or something as intimate as a local team in need of assistance or someone fighting cancer or another disease, we’re here to lend a helping hand through our ‘Painting It Forward’ program.
All Pinot’s Palette studios, nation-wide, have this program (Painting It Forward), enabling us to host classes, and donate proceeds from them to a charity or nonprofit organization. We work with groups, mainly local, but also across the Nation, to help aid in financial relief, in any way we can. We always encourage our customers to come in to a class, pay to paint, as they would a normal class, and then we donate to the organization in need. Throughout the past, our local studio, 'Pinot’s Palette, Brier Creek' has been able to assist those in need, with the gracious help of our incredible customers and other donors.
Just in the past year, we’ve helped raise money for:
-Animal shelters and pet rescues like ‘Carolina Poodle Rescue’ and ‘Purrfect Smile’
-Natural disaster relief for Hurricane Harvey victims
-‘Pretty In Pink Foundation’, which provides the financial support for medical treatments to individuals who qualify, based on household and income guidelines.
-‘The Power Of The Dream’, a nonprofit, dedicated to creating and advocating for jobs with adults with autism and/or other intellectual developmental disabilities.

We’ve held fundraising events in the form of public classes, where proceeds are donated to a charity or group in need; We’ve seen private parties, turned fundraising events, where money is donated and event silent auctions can take place in efforts to raise even more money! Let us know what you’re interested in using our ‘Painting It Forward’ program for and we’ll let you know what we can do for you and your group. We’ve been so blessed to have out studio, filled with incredible people, everyday. We’ve made some great friends, learned a lot, and have seen so much good in people and the world in general. We want to help give back to the same community who opened it’s heart to us and embraced our studio as it’s own.
Try to take advantage of this special day not just one day a year, but every day, in some way. Even the smallest of things like saying hello to someone, asking how their day is, holding the door for someone, or carrying their bags, can make a huge difference in life. Pay for the drink of the person behind you at the Starbucks, and they’ll likely continue to pay for the one behind them, and so on. Leave a slightly larger tip, give a hand-out to the homeless person you see, send your friends a kind message, and tell you family that you love them. Spread goodness and love, anywhere you can, because, believe t or not, many people need to believe that there is still good out there in the world. Being kind can make all the difference in someone’s life for that day and it doesn’t cost a thing.
