Join us for a class where you'll learn to use the same painting techniques that Bob Ross used for his famous paintings as you make a masterpiece of your very own!
The iconic American painter, art instructor, and television host quickly became a beloved figure in the world of art and entertainment through his long-running television series, "The Joy of Painting.” The series aired from 1983 to 1994.
Known for his soothing voice, happy & positive phrases, and of course, the distinctive afro hairstyle, Bob Ross was instantly loved and became something peaceful to unwind with after a long day. His calm demeanor and positive attitude endeared him to viewers, and his catchphrase "happy little trees" became synonymous with his unique approach to art.
Even though Bob Ross passed away in 1995, his legacy continues to inspire countless artists and art enthusiasts as his work remains a source of comfort and creativity for many.

WHAT: An Oil Painting Class with Melissa, a Certified Ross Instructor®.
WHEN: January 15th from 1-5pm
This event falls on Martin Luther King Jr Day so no school (or work for many) to worry about getting in the way of this fun class!
ABOUT THE ARTWORK: We’ll be painting ‘Winter Majesty’, a stunning wintery mountain scene with a bold and bright sky. Learn the techniques that Bob Ross used like different techniques for applying paint and adding texture.
ABOUT THE MATERIALS: We will be using OIL PAINTS for this class for the first time ever in our studio!
We believe in providing the best for our students, so you will be working with premium materials. You'll be equipped with high-quality canvases and Bob Ross exclusive brushes and paints ensuring your artwork stands the test of time.
While we always work with acrylic paint, which we love for it’s ease of use and quick-drying element, but for this class only we will introduce you to the world o oil paint!

——> What: The World’s Largest Bob Ross Painting Exhibition
‘Fantastic Little Paintings’ by artist, Bob Ross, is adorning the walls of The Mims Gallery at The Dunn Center.
Ross was said to have painted an estimated 30,000 pieces of art in his lifetime and over 75 of them can be seen at this event, making it the largest exhibition ever seen under one roof globally (For Ross’s work).
——> When: Now through January 4th (2024)
——> Where: Located at North Carolina Wesleyan University in Rocky Mt.
——> Tickets: Tickets are available for $15 per person with free admission for children under five. This will be the first time a Bob Ross exhibit has been to North Carolina.
