Museums To Visit Around The Area!
Since Pinot's Palette is such a HUGE fan of art, we’re here to recommend places that you can see some great pieces around the area! Museums are such a fun way to spend time with family, friends, or alone if you’re in the mood to have a day to yourself. They’re typically very inexpensive, relaxing and educational, and a great place to make memories.
We’ve listed some of the best places in the area to see some fantastic art, including a wide variety of styles, so there’s something for everyone.
Enjoy!
** North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA)
The NCMA's permanent collection had its beginning in 1947 when the North Carolina General Assembly appropriated $1 million for the purchase of works of art, making North Carolina the first state in the nation to use public funds to buy art. How cool is that?!
Check it out:
1-Franz Kline, ‘Orange Outline’ (1955)
2-Rodine, ’The Thinker’ (1880)
There were 12 copies made from the plaster mold of Rodin’s most famous work and NCMA is the proud owner of one of the copies!
3-Beth Lipman, ‘Bride’ (2010)

The Nasher Museum of Art is the art museum of Duke University, and is located on Duke's campus in Durham, North Carolina, United States. ***GET IN FAST… ‘Christian Marclay: Surround Sounds’ Exhibition is going on until September 3rd!
This is a large-scale, synchronized, silent video installation that consists of animated onomatopoeias (words that sound like what they name) projected onto four walls of a darkened room. Although silent, the work plays like a musical composition, merging the auditory with the visual and providing an immersive perceptual experience.

While it’s always a wonderful experience to take in the sights of others people's art, why not create some of your own?! At Pinot’s Palette we believe that ANYONE is an artist and that everyone can paint! When you sign up for one of our classes, you’ll come in to find all of the supplies provided for you. We have a bar, stocked with wine and beer for purchase (check the calendar for specials!). Don’t worry if you think you can’t paint, as we’ll have a talented artist, walking you through the painting, step-by-step, encouraging you the whole way through. You’lll leave the 2-3 hour class with your masterpiece in your hands and a smile on your face, proud of what you accomplished!
We hope to see you soon, whether it’s for a public class (schedule, listed below), or one of our private parties! From celebrations and kids’ parties, to corporate team-building events, mobile parties, and more, we’ve got something for everyone!
