Great Ways To Spend Time When It’s COLD Outside
Ok, so we don’t want to state the obvious, but...
Wow!
It. Has. Been. COLD. in our area of NC, lately!
From the recent snow storm, that made it’s way up the coast, to the winds and below freezing temps, it’s become an unfriendly time to venture outside.
"As of 3 p.m. on Saturday Jan 6, Raleigh broke a three-decades-old cold weather record. The City of Oaks had spent 158 consecutive hours at or below 32 degrees, measured at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, breaking the previous record of 157 hours set in January!"
Now that is cold!
Aside from the extremely low temps, that have settled on our cities, and temps that are looking to rise, soon (hopefully)… we’re still right in the middle of winter, and it’s going to be cold for a few more months. While we’ve all come to expect the ups and downs of weather, living on the East Coast, that doesn’t mean we all enjoy the cold weather! There are many ways to spend time indoors, being productive and checking things off those always-growing ’to-do’ lists, but what about additional options for those days when you’re snowed in, or it’s just to cold to leave the house?
While we might be a bit biased in suggesting Pinot’s Palette, Brier reek, as a great idea for a cold day retreat, we certainly are not alone! There are thousands of people who have come to our classes throughout the past 3+ years and always leave great reviews! We are a unique, fun, and creative environment to spend time in and hey... WE HAVE HEAT!
Next time that you’re looking for a great, indoor activity to partake in, come in to Pinot’s Palette in Raleigh, and enjoy one of our 2-3 hour painting and wine classes! We have a terrific staff, always available to help with anything you may need and a talented instructor, walking you through the painting, step by step! We have an eclectic wine and beer menu, great music to paint along with, and tons of classes, for people of all ages.
WHEN YOU HAVE SOME TIME ALONE:
1- Read a book
*Dive into that amazing new book you’ve been hearing about, and be transported into another world for the day.
OR, read one of those self-empowering books that’ll motivate you to go out there and slay life, once the snow is gone!
2- Shop (online, of course)
*When you have the need to buy, why leave your home? Pick out anything you want and have it shipped right to your door. You can avoid the cold and get awesome stuff that way.
3 Dance.
*You can’t go wrong with that one. Put your favorite dancing jams and shake those hips as you have a dance party for one!
4.Pamper yourself.
*Take a hot bubble bath, try a new facial mask, and relax with some spa music and cucumbers on your eyelids.
INDOOR FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY:
1- Watch movies.
*This will take up a nice chunk of time and give you hours of entertainment. Pick your favorite comedy, rom-com, action or animated movies and the day is set!
2- Play games.
*Grab all of those board games and reminisce on the days when there were no apps for games on your phones and tablets! It’s the perfect time for Pictionary, taboo or even twister if you are having a snowmagedon slumber party.
3- Have a baking/cooking challenge.
*Have fun in the kitchen! Try out that new recipe you wanted to, and make it fun. Maybe host your own version of "Chopped" and enjoy the product afterwards.
4- Make a fort!
*Go right back to the days of your own childhood and use boxes or sheets to construct a fort in your house.

DO THE THINGS YOU ALWAYS SAY YOU'LL DO, BUT NEVER HAVE TIME FOR:
1- Make some new playlists
*That music you hear on the radio? Buy it and put it on a playlist. Or just organize your playlists. Make it easier on yourself and label genres like classic rock, pop, rap, etc. You'll thank yourself later when you're searching for that one song you just can't think of.
2- Scrapbook.
*You have tons of photos and souvenirs that you’ve been collecting for years, from mementos from weddings, vacation, reunions, and more…
You’ve been saying “I’ll scrapbook these memories one day”, but that’s one of those things you have to make yourself do, because life is busy and a lot of other things will always win out in importance. Just think about how amazing it’ll feel, each time you go back through your beautiful scrapbook and remember what an exciting life you’ve had with those that you love.
3- Catch up with friends.
*Abuse Skype & FaceTime if you are stuck inside the house. Maybe have group calls with your best friends, or catch up with old friends. It is a good chance to reconnect because you will actually have enough time to talk about things.
4- Clean your closet.
*Give away things you no longer need, mix & match your items, and make it look pretty! It feels great to declutter your life and even better, donating items to those who need them more than you.
Remember to give us a try, soon! We think you'll be super glad you did! Bring your friends and family along to join in the fun, too! You’ll leave the class with a special work of art that you’ll be proud to sho off! You’ll be amazed at how you started with a blank canvas and ended up with a handmade masterpiece that you can hang in your home and treasure forever. Who knows…? You might even discover a hidden talent, you never knew you had!
