Celebrate ‘Grandparents’ Day’ This September 9th And Bring The Whole Family In To Paint!
National Grandparents Day is a secular holiday celebrated in the United States since 1978. It’s officially recognized in a number of countries on various days of the year, either as one holiday or sometimes as a separate Grandmothers' Day and Grandfathers’ Day.
Some of the additional countries that celebrate the day are Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Spain, and Taiwan.
Marian McQuade from West Virginia has been recognized, nationally, as the founder of National Grandparents Day. McQuade made it her goal to educate the youth around her community about the important contributions seniors have made throughout history. She also urged the youth to "adopt" a grandparent, not just for one day a year, but rather for a lifetime. Co-founder Cynthia Bennett, who worked for Marian's husband, contributed by writing letters of verification.
In 1973, Senator Jennings Randolph (D-WV) introduced a resolution to the senate to make Grandparents' Day a national holiday.
In February 1977, ‘Grandparent's Day’ was offically designated as the first Sunday of September after Labor Day of each year. The purpose of the day was stated as "a way to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children, and to help children become aware of strength, information, and guidance older people can offer".

We greatly encourage first-time painters to come in and see what kind of artwork they're capable of making on their own. It’s always fascinating to see someone who hasn’t touched a paint brush since they were in grade school, turn a blank canvas into a handmade work of art in just a 2-3 hour class! We watch as people come into the studio, positive that they won’t be able to paint the picture of the day, then leave with a smile on their face and a beautiful masterpiece in they hands. You, too, could be among the thousands of customers who have come to our studio, had a great time, and left with the confidence of knowing that they actually could paint, after all!
Spending time with loved ones, especially a grandparent, is more meaningful than any gift could ever be. Grandparents love nothing more than their grandchildren, no matter their age. Spending some quality time with them, trying something new, then having a souvenir at the end of the experience to remember the day by, is the perfect gift! Bring your grandparents in to paint, this upcoming weekend for Grandparent’s Day (which is on the 9th), or any other time this month to paint and sip some wine in celebration of the amazing people that they are and all they have done for your family!

This Family Day class is fun for the whole family (ages 7 and above) and is designed for families to enjoy time painting together. For the enjoyment of all of our guests, non-painting parents are not able to sit with their child, nor "share" a canvas. Seating for non-painting parents may be available in the back of the studio but is not guaranteed.

Deep blue ocean scene with bright bubbles framed nicely by a coral reef. A view from below shows the chance meeting of two sea turtles who are surrounded by small fish. With a simple color scheme painters will enjoy focusing on details such as seaweed, two turtles, fish and bubbles.
