Painting It Forward for Hurricane Harvey Relief

Texas is special to us. Our franchise system is made up of 135+ passionate studio owners and hundreds more amazing artists across the U.S. and Ontario. But our very first studio was (and still is) in the Montrose neighborhood in the middle of Houston, Texas.

Now we have 10 paint and sip studios throughout Houston and its surrounding cities, and our home offices are headquartered there. Most of our Houston team members spent last week dealing with Hurricane Harvey and the destruction it left behind. We’re incredibly grateful that all our team members and their families are safe!

While our Houston teams were dealing with ominous storms, destructive floodwaters, electricity loss and neighbors in need... our studios nationwide were already organizing donation drives and fundraising events for the Gulf Coast! Talk about a family you can count on.

Our studios independently planned numerous Painting It Forward fundraisers throughout September. These fundraisers are painting and drinking events where proceeds are donated to nonprofit Hurricane Harvey relief funds, including Global Giving and the American Red Cross. Some studios are also collecting food, diapers and other resources to send to disaster relief organizations in Texas.

Most of the paint and sip fundraisers will feature the painting above, United We Stand. It was created specifically for Harvey relief by one of our incredible studio managers in Oklahoma. For those of us in the Houston area, it's a reminder of that first sunset we saw after days of nothing but rain clouds -- the light at the end of the tunnel. For our Pinot's Palette family in other states, it's an expression of solidarity, healing and hope.

In addition to Painting It Forward events, people can donate directly to Harvey relief when signing up online for ANY Pinot’s Palette painting events in September. Voluntary donation boxes at checkout and on our homepage send a monetary donation directly to Global Giving’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Global Giving works with well-vetted, locally-based charities to meet disaster victims’ immediate, mid-term and long-term needs over time.

The Houston community is still grappling with the early effects of Hurricane Harvey. There's a strange balance between trying to get back to normalcy and staying invested in the parts of the community still facing insurmountable cleanup and rebuilding. At Pinot's Palette, we're lucky to be part of a system of people from coast to coast who are proving every day how open-hearted and passionate they are for helping those in need.
