How to Fix Acrylic Painting Mistakes
If at first you don’t succeed… no problem! Here’s how to fix acrylic painting mistakes on canvas.Whether you had one too many sips of wine and accidentally sprayed paint across the canvas, or you're a perfectionist whose painting isn't turning out quite like you envisioned, most errors can be erased. Fixing mistakes with acrylic paint is actually pretty simple.
Whenever you paint, keep a few damp paper towels nearby. This way, you'll be ready to fix painting mistakes immediately. You want the towels to be damp, not dripping.
Of course, one trick to correcting an “oops” moment is to catch it quickly, while the paint is still wet. Here's how it's done:
• As gently as you can, use the paper towel to wipe away the paint you want removed. Use a light hand and work on a small area at once.
• If it takes more than wipe to erase your mistake, refold the paper towel so you are using a clean piece each time you wipe. Repeat until the area is completely clean.
• Once the errant paint is gone, blot the area gently with a dry paper towel. Wait a minute for the canvas to be dry again.
• When the cleaned area is paint-free and dry, you’re ready to try again.
There you have it! You can complete your painting and nobody will be the wiser. Your secret is safe with us!
