July Celebrations!
While both Canada Day and the Fourth of July have come and gone, July isn't out of celebratory cheer just yet! And boy, is July a month of celebrations (just not for weddings, apparently, as it is the Unlucky Month for Weddings... Sorry, brides and grooms)! There are certainly some tradtional holidays that follow the 4th, such as Parents' Day (7/28) and Father-in-Law Day (7/30), as well as Aunt and Uncle Day (7/26) and Bastille Day (7/14). But let's take a moment to appreciate some of the tastier, stranger, and downright hilarious holidays this month can offer.
As well as being National Blueberry Month, July hosts Blueberry Day (7/8) and Blueberry Muffin Day (7/11). It also touts a wide assortment of other tasty holidays including Chocoalte Day (7/7), National Fried Chicken Day (7/6), International Chicken Wing Day (7/1), Pecan Pie Day (7/12), Peach Ice Cream Day (7/17), National Ice Cream Soda and Lollipop Days (7/20), National Ice Cream and Junk Food Days (7/21), Lasagna Day (7/29) and National Cheesecake Day (7/30). We think perhaps they should nix Culinarian's Day (7/24) and simply call July 'Food Month', as there are so many other foodie days that we just can't name in one paragraph!
It's not all fantastic food, however. Tell an Old Joke Day falls on the 24th, so be prepared for headphones if you can't stand those puns! National Day of the Cowboy is on 7/27, World Emoji Day is 7/17, and Fresh Spinach Day is just before on 7/16!
Of course, our personal favourites are a tad further off the beaten path. July 15th claims both Be a Dork day and Cow Appreciation Day (those may go hand in hand). Barbershop Music Appreciation Day sounds fantastic (7/13), and shares the date with Embrace your Geekness Day. Ugly Truck Day falls on 7/20 this year, so rev your engines! Our hats go off to the artistic Body Painting Day (7/8), and our hearts go out to those celebrating Cheer Up the Lonely Day (7/11).
It looks like a busy month! But did anyone else forget the iconic July 2nd holiday, I Forgot Day? Yeah... Us too... Maybe we'll remember next year!
