Empty Wine Bottles...
Hello! Happy Holidays from everyone here at Pinot's Palette! This holiday season leaves the home with a lot of empty wine bottles especially after Thanksgiving. So we wanted to share with you a few easy ways to use those bottles as simple and affordable holiday gifts or decorations!
This week we decided to take on these painted wine bottle decorations with a holiday season theme.
These bottles don't have to be just holiday themed you can use any color scheme to customize them and fit your home for any time of year.
Materials:
· As many wine bottles as you have letters in your word
· One can of almond satin spray paint
· One can of red satin spray paint.
· Medium sided wooden letters
· Plaid printed burlap- 3 inches. Ribbon can also work!
· Hot glue gun/ glue
· Wooden artificial plant stems.
· Scissors
Directions:
-First you will need to clean the labels off of your wine bottles. We soaked ours in hot water for ten minutes and the labels peeled right off. We used a scotch bright pad to get the excess glue off. Then we let them dry.
-Next, we spray painted the letters while those bottles were drying. (Hint: using multiple light coats helps the paint come out very clean looking.)
-When the bottles were done drying we painted them with the almond spray paint with 2-3 light coats making sure to completely, and evenly cover the bottles.
-After the bottles and letters both dried, we measured the burlap around the body of the bottles and precut the length for them all. We estimated the middle of the bottle and very tightly wrapped and glued the burlap on the bottles. Once the letters go on they will pull on the burlap so it is important that it is glued on tight. You can glue the burlap in many places just make sure it comes across level and meets up with the beginning point in the back.
-We used the first bottle as a template for the height on the band so they all turned out the same. Once you have all of the burlap bands glued on place the letters on the front with hot glue.
-Finally, we took fake grass and wooden sticks we got from the craft store and cut them down.
Thank you so much for visiting us! Stay tuned next week for another great and affordable way to celebrate this holiday season!
