Little Brushes: Summer Camp!

Week 3 - Beginning PAINTING

Do you have a teenager, 13-18+, who’s taken a serious interest in creating? In this virtual, crash course to Visual Image Making, we will continue our studies this week with an Introduction to Drawing. We will gain essential knowledge on how light and the absence of light play an important role in the understanding of how we perceive what we see. We will have a brief look at how value has been used in other 2D works of art. We will explore various value structures, learn to work with tonal grounds, and exploit creative impulse. A committed attitude and willingness to experiment will be paramount in this course.

LIVE INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL CLASS. THIS OPTION INCLUDES ALL OF YOUR ART MATERIALS FOR PICK UP AT THE STUDIO. This class will not be held in the studio.

THIS IS A WEEK LONG CLASS WITH 1.5 HOUR INSTRUCTION PER DAY (MONDAY-FRIDAY, 3:00 - 4:30 PM) July 6 - July 10.

MON - Primary / Secondary Colors and Complementary Color Schemes
TUES - Tertiary Colors
WED - Split-Complementary Color Schemes
THUR - Tetradic / Square
FRIDAY - Color Symbolism
FRI - Full Value Statement (Additive)

You need to get your supply kit list that your child will need for the entire week, such as specific worksheets, reference material, a canvas, brushes and paint. An emailed link to join the live interactive class from home! Please make sure you get your supply kit before the camp starts!

Please note that this specific week's focus is on drawing and sketching, not painting. There will be more crash courses to come, each week being different, some of which will entail painting, as well as other mediums and subjects.

If you experience technical issues during the live class or are unable to attend, a recording of the class will be available for 4 days following the event.

For questions or assistance in registering, please email us at princeton@pinotspalette.com!

  • Q) What time should I arrive to my class?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time of your class. This will allow you time to get settled and mingle before the painting starts. We do start our classes on time at the Princeton Studio!

  • Q) I can't even draw a straight line...will I be able to do this and complete the painting?

Absolutely! Most guests have never painted a day in their life or at least since they were in pre-school. Our artist will guide you step-by-step through the featured painting and will ensure that you stay on track to completing your masterpiece by the end of class.
