5 New Year's Resolutions for Artists!
The New Year started weeks ago, but if you’re like me, you’re probably still thinking about New Years Resolutions. We all want to be more organized, spend more time with loved ones, and maybe get in better shape after the holidays, but what about your art? What do you want to accomplish artistically in 2021? Here are some ideas:
1. Stop Procrastinating: It’s the biggest enemy of any artist! Start that project you’ve been putting off! Maybe start small and do one step a day. This is your wake up call!
2. Pick up a new skill: Learn to use a new tool! Whether its learning watercolor when you’ve always used oil paints, or learning how to create digital art after you got a new tablet for Christmas! There are tutorials for everything you’ve ever wanted to learn. Try YouTube, SkillShare, or TikTok for ideas!
3. Set up a Studio: Do you need a specific area to do your art? Do you have your supplies spread out over your entire home? Set up a corner of your home dedicated to your art and get organized. It’ll make things so much easier when you know exactly where your paint brushes are and you aren’t distracted by everything else!
4. Socialize! Get to know more artists! They are a great source of inspiration, as you are for them! Collaborate and learn!
5. Share your art more! I know it can be scary to share your work online for the whole world to see. But its amazing how much support and encouragement from friends and strangers alike can lift you up and motivate you! Instagram and Facebook are great apps to share on!
2021 should be a year of learning and inspiration and growth for all artists! If you need some inspiration and support, we’d love for you to come paint, drink, and have fun with us at Pinot’s Palette Cherry Street!
